This was a crude shelter used by the early Southern Paiute, and other Native Americans around the Southwest. It was light and easy to construct from the immediate resources in the locality. The Southern Paiute people were hunters and gatherers, and they occupied the greater part of the Great Basin Region, as well as part of the Colorado Plateau.
