Hi there,

I've stumbled across your blog looking for information about volunteering to help restore the area down by the Supai village. I'm finding it hard to find the person or people I need to contact in order to get involved. If you've been successful on finding such information, I would be so grateful if you could pass it along. My e-mail is sc335@nau.edu

Peace to you,

Previous to 1960, Jackalopes were never seen in the coastal regions of Southern California.

Oddly enough in the 1960's there was one of the largest herds of these ever seen in the mountains above Laguna Beach.

There were so many in fact, that you would often see them in the early morning nibbling on the tender greens in neighborhood gardens.

Then in the summer of 1971, just as mysteriously as they had arrived, they were gone.

Many old homes in Laguna Beach still have photos of their children feeding these cheerful animals.

Wow, you guys were lucky. 16 of us were there 2 weeks before that happened. I can't even imagine how scary that was to have the water rushing towards you so fast. I hope you got to see the beauty of the area before the flooding. I doubt that it will be the same again for many years to come. Thanks for sharing your story. Sandy

I hear that an encounter with the jackelope elders will do that to a man

;^)>

Seriously, I'm glad to read your (honest) advice towards self-defense in the (domestic) deserts. All of that beautiful and arid terrain, a person could like to think it wouldn't ever be necessary and/or seriously helpful, but off of the beaten path -- probably the road more preferred to some, regardless fo whether it could be a road less traveled, you know -- I suppose that one might not know *all* of what to expect, out there. By what you say of the social environment, it looks like it's just as good to keep a level head about it, even though the area wouldn't look like downtown whereversburgh.

Peace

To remain motivated to stay steadfast, certainly such motivation must be founded in faith, if it is present.

Unfortunately, some people do much that may shake one's faith -- and they delight in it, no doubt about it. Sure, they might not throw raucous parties about it, but you can tell when one of those enjoys defacating on things.

To whom has to work with such deluded asses, at least there may be hope in the ability of social community to lend sense of reason back to one's attention.

Without meaning to lend a pall on what you write, I had wanted to respond -- and to respond honestly -- having read. This is all I can think to say in response, as I write, here, though this may be as much digital flotsam.

I hope that your week has gone well, sir.

As for how this one respondant's week has gone, I might now recall: To wander the desert is at least feasible, when one is not starved or vital provisions -- so to speak, as it were, figuratively, and so as to not be mistaken by *anyone*, as for the nature of the statement ;^)>
