This unfinished sculpture is by my friend, #AlvinMarshall #whois #Diné #Navajo! What many of you, who are my friends and supporters don’t realize is that I sell & trade Alabaster stone to #NativeAmerican stone carvers throughout the #Southhwest. This is how I make a living to survive and it allows me to travel. I also do this for my family because they ask me to and so do many of the carvers. As long as my family is are able to get the stone, the #Alabaster will continue to lead me to the people who I am supposed to meet. I realize the importance behind “why” I do this. The stone is sacred in many ways because of the human relationships and friendships that form as a result of the stone. The stone also allows me to travel and capture beautiful photos of the American #Southwest, otherwise, I could not afford to travel. I have a lot of respect for the rock; it is special as you can see the spirit of it in Albin’s sculpture. August is the month when I sell the most stone in #NewMexico because of the upcoming #IndianMarket in #SantaFe. I’ve been busy the last few days as I prepare to bring about 4.5 tons of Alabaster out to Albuquerque, Santa Fe and #Taos. I look forward to meeting up with my friends, @kiltica and John Suazo at Taos Pueblo. I’m leaving Friday morning and will be on he road for the next several days until the work is done! #Nm #abq #golobos #nativeart #native #lifeways #truth #art #utahphotographer ~ via Instagram: ift.tt/2a9QbeR

Don’t simply call a Rokinon lens “just” a cheap $300 dollar lens; I’ve seen their lenses excel well beyond #Leica and #Zeiss. I’m not just talking @Rokinon, but Bower, and Samyang and all those Elite Brands included. These guys are truly onto something and if they’d learn how to reach out and network with their fans a little bit better; they would become even more unstoppable. I shot this photos with a Rokinon 7.5mm #Fisheye on the #Pensecola, #Florida Coast! ??? ~ via Instagram: ift.tt/2a99OXp

I was out today trying to practice with the #SonyA7r and a #Pentax 28mm F3.5 lens. This old legacy lens is supposed to work swell on the A7 series cameras but it has to be the SMC Pentax (K-Mount) 28mm F3.5 not the Pentax-M: this lens was designed for landscape photographers. I edited this shot in #Mextures. I’m really getting burned out on blue sky every day and was hoping for more clouds. Dear Monsoon! Where in the heck are you!?!! ? ~ via Instagram: ift.tt/2a4ABB5

I’ve worked so hard to move towards my goals and dreams but sometimes I feel a bit discouraged like I’m not getting anywhere despite my best efforts. I want to succeed; I want to please. So right now, I’m just trying to figure everything out and maybe I need have some more faith… Photo credit @joecow #myself #nate #utahphotographer #contemplation ~ via Instagram: ift.tt/29RmMWr

Dear friends. I will try and practice daily as a photographer and artist and continue to post to Instagram. I’m also going to try and sell prints weekly down here in Southern Utah to raise the rest of the money I need to fulfill rewards and honor my obligation to all of my Kickstarter backers who helped me on my project. If anyone has advice on how I could market my photos better and it could further the efforts to achieve this goal, I would appreciate your advice? All I need to set aside is about $2,000 to finish up the rest of my Kickstarter rewards! I’ve been sending a few out a week but it’s not fast enough! I’ve had a lot of requests from people that want to buy prints from me as well from people who I have met for the first time: #ZionNationalPark. ~ via Instagram: ift.tt/29OiIct

I think amateur photographers need to stop chasing after the latest and greatest auto focus lenses and start focusing on their craft more…I didn’t start really practicing my photography until I learned the art of manual focusing old legacy lenses on digital mirrorless bodies using cheap adaptors to hook these archaic old lenses to modern digital sensors; I’m talking about lenses made clear back in the 50s through the 1990s!!! I came to realize these lenses had more character than perfected digital lenses and that this same “old school” flavor appeared in my photos as well adding even more charm to my compositions. I’m no longer sold on the latest auto focus craze. Instead, I focus on manual lenses and my AF lenses seem to take a back row seat. I’m about ready to fully commit myself to manual focus only photography because it has taught me so much more through art and practice! #brycecanyonnationalpark ~ via Instagram: ift.tt/29H1awL

I don’t always post my best photos on here because I post what I enjoy. I was practicing with the #SonyA7r yesterday and it’s very different than what I’m used to shooting with a cropped sensor. First thing I noticed is how much more difficult it is to nail manual focus on a 55mm lens because of how narrow the depth of field is on a full frame – it’s paper thin when the lens is stopped between f1.4-2.8. I’m shooting with my favorite Porst 55mm F1.4 and it’s a little soft wide open. I may head out today for a few hours to practice some more. #blackandwhite #A7R #SonyAlpha ~ via Instagram: ift.tt/29G9ay1

(@joecow) – It arrived! ? Well, Hello There, Mr. #SonyA7r, I hear you are quite the landscape photographer’s camera and I really look forward to working with you on a professional level! I’ve waited a long time for full frame and it finally arrived at my fingertips on this beautiful morning. It’s not new, it’s used but I don’t think I could settle for anything less than a 36 Megapixel sensor! ~ via Instagram: ift.tt/29zckTO

So when I captured this photo in 2007 was the last time I was shooting with Nikon Dslrs before progressing to Micro 4/3 Cameras which I still love and appreciate. I captured this scene in #MonumentValley which is the heart of the #Navajo – whom have been good friends to me over the years… Tomorrow, I’m picking up a 36 Megapixel #SonyAlpha #A7R which will allow to me capture landscapes like these but bordering on #MediumFormat quality. I will continue to capture beautiful images for all of you, my friends and relatives. Thank you! ??? ~ via Instagram: ift.tt/29w9jl0

I just traded three M4/3 lenses and a Panasonic GH3 for a #SonyA7r! #Fullframe will be apart of my photography kit. What this means is my landscapes are about to get a major upgrade in image quality at 36 Megapixel and a larger camera sensor! Can’t wait! ??? Can’t wait to take a stroll with this beast down this hike in #BryceCanyonNationalPark! ~ via Instagram: ift.tt/29Er2LE

I find beauty in historic dolls; they’re not really spooky to me. They tell a story and I’m a storyteller. Yes, I do believe in the paranormal and I don’t shun spooky things but I do shun evil. I completely ignore the presence of evil and do not give it any power. I have the gift of discernment to know what is evil and what is good. Not everything that is unknown or mysterious is evil. Just because you may not understand what it is does not automatically make it evil! I’m glad the Creator blessed me the ability to know the difference. I have encountered the “paranormal” many times in life and God definitely created an interesting place. However, I’m petty convinced its a multiverse, not universe! ~ via Instagram: ift.tt/29iLz32
